“NATIONAL STRATEGY ON HUMAN RIGHTS NEEDS SIGNIFICANT REVIEW”, – COUNCIL COMMITTEE

The Council noted that the level of implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the strategy remains consistently low.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories stated that the National Human Rights Strategy needs to be substantially revised. This was reported by the information department of the Verkhovna Rada.

Thus, on August 25, 2015, the Decree of the President of Ukraine approved the National Strategy in the field of human rights in order to create an effective mechanism for comprehensive provision of human and civil rights and freedoms in Ukraine.

“The national strategy needs to be substantially revised and comprehensive changes and additions will be made, which would take into account the changes that have taken place in our country over the past five years and which would meet the new challenges of the time,” said Taras Tarasenko.

Thus, during the meeting the people’s deputies considered the state of implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy, developed for the period from 2015 to 2020. The event was Ruslan Rozoshenko, Head of the Department for Work with the European Court of Justice of the International Diplomatic Mission, was invited.

“The level of implementation of the Action Plan from year to year remains consistently low. Therefore, there is an urgent need to analyze all the causes of an inappropriate action plan and find optimal ways to eliminate them. The parliament, the government and the public should unite their efforts and work out updates to the Strategy and a new action plan, the MP said.
